Celebration of Rex’s Life will be held at 10:30 A. M. Tuesday October 15, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Oblong. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday October 14, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Oblong.

Rex D. Mc Gehee, 84, Oblong, IL died on Friday October 11, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN.
Born May 23, 1935 in Bedford Township Wayne County near Cisne, IL he was the son of Arthur and Rosabel (Ayers) Mc Gehee. On December 26, 1971 he married Rosemary Kirk and she survives.
Rex owned and operated Dorsey Kirk Insurance Agency in Oblong, IL from 1980 until his retirement in 2017. Before that he was a manager at Index Notion Stores in Petersburg, IN, Chester, IL, Robinson, IL and Oblong, IL. He moved to Oblong in 1969. He served in the United States Army from 1958 -1964. Rex was an active member and officer in the different Lions Clubs and Jaycees he belonged to over the years. He was a very active member of First Christian Church in Oblong serving as Chairman of the Benevolent Fund and as a Deacon. He was involved with the Gideon’s and served as treasurer of Oblong Food Bank for many years. He was a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge 1188 and was awarded the Oblong Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Community Service Award in 2006. Most of all Rex was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Survivors include his wife Rosemary Mc Gehee of Oblong, IL; two brothers and sisters-in-law Marshall and Lannie Mc Gehee of Fairfield, IL and Richard Kem and Elizabeth Mc Gehee of Belleview, WA; several nieces, nephews and cousins along with a sister-in-law Theresa Kirk of Robinson, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters-in-law Muriel Mc Gehee and Evelyn Cunefare.
